Review of Milton's Secret (2016) by Zak B — 02 Oct 2016
Miltons secret is a unique, inspired, ambitious and important film. Set in the context of a family drama, with an intelligent middle school protagonist, it puts the focus on the inner life of the main character who seeks freedom from the torment of a rapidly progressing bullying situation. His fear paralyzes him and his mind seems to be attacking him. Eventually he discovers the freedom that is possible with a different point of view.
Capturing the essence of Eckhart tolle's power of now, the film is Beautifully acted by Donald Sutherland and cast, filling out its ambitious goals with compelling and full performances. While it is a message film it's rooted in fully realized characters and performances.
