Review of Metallica: Through the Never (2013) by Matt S — 09 Aug 2014
This is kind of two movies in one.
One is a straight forward, ass-kicking live musical performance from one of the biggest and baddest bands of our time - on a giant fucking screen. the other is a surreal, intense, creepy, visually stunning (and at times confusing) mind-fuck that (for me, anyway) is a bit haunting and sticks around in thoughts afterwards.
I like that the band (and filmmakers) tried something different, pushed their limits, and ventured out of their comfort zones. also, maybe most importantly, the music is presented in a very loud - and electric - fashion, which is really the only way to deliver it.
A must see (for the concert portion alone) for any fan.
