Review of Maudie (2016) by D C — 07 Sep 2017
I have to do this again. How good is this film ? Lets take all of the violence in the movie The Fast and the Furious episode ? and distill it into a tablespoon of hypercaffinated liquid, add it to all of the distilled violence in Independence Day 2 and it still wouldn't give you the jolt of watching (Ethan Hawk) strike Maudie in a fit of stupidity.
There are other instances of cinematic excellence. Movie makers dream of the impact of isolated pauses in the script with cinematography effects (The Hero) like the image s of a crippled Maudie hoofing it home on a barren road in a world of beauty.
See the film. Such is the nature of good storytelling and good film making.
