Review of Marty (1955) by Ladd W — 11 Oct 2007
My love for this movie never diminishes. Ernest Borgnine (who I had only seen has hard-nosed characters growing up) is a true revelation in this film. You feel his loneliness, unhappiness and despair; he truly deserved his Oscar.
The characters are real people, and anyone could relate to them and the sadness in their lives. Of course, the whole film is perfect and I find it is not dated at all. It could be done today without much change to the story.
We certainly see the sweeter side of Paddy Chayefsky here!
