Review of Marty (1955) by K D — 29 Jul 2008
Now this was a good, cute movie. Watching this shows you what Hollywood used to be like and is vastly different to how this same story would be played out today. There wasn't any major drama, there wasn't any sex or cheating or the usual downturn, protagonist is in trouble twist like there is in today's movies.
.. it was simply a great story about a lovely date... the kind of date I always dream about having. Borgnine played the part perfectly, you just couldn't have understood the character any more if it wasn't for his performance.
Betsy Blair also really hit the part too, very meek but powerful at the same time. "Marty" gives this hopeless romantic hope.
