Review of Manic (2001) by Jeremiah C — 25 Mar 2012
Painful, Gritty, Disturbing, inspiring and sometimes hard to watch. These are just some of the area's you never see in movies. It's these things that people try to ignore because its to much to handle. The child-abuse, rape, senseless violence, depression, drugs and so on. all involving teens, The Actors/Actresses deliver strong performances that actually make you believe there character has actually been through hell and back. Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel give surprisingly amazing performances, I never expected either of them to be even involved in a movie like this. They were some of the main reasons why I even watched Manic. Don Cheadle was also amazing but not as convincing as the others. All in all this movie delivered strong performances, sometimes unbearable shaky camera and an inspiring ending that make's this movie worth watching again.
Highly Recommended.
