Review of Love the Beast (2009) by Jack S — 01 Dec 2010
The story of actor Eric Bana and his passion for his 1974 Ford Falcon Coupe starts out dynamite, with Bana going back to his roots and explaining how and why he first became interested in cars. There's a real sense of Australiana as we reminisce about old cars and old Bathursts and old racing car drivers.
But my interest began to wane quite a bit when the focus became much more on Bana and his own passion for racing. Still, Dr Phil's wonderful words of wisdom kept my interest. All in all, the doco is a pretty good effort.
Bana himself comes across as a very dinkum bloke, unchanged by Hollywood fame, who loves his footy, his mates and his car.
