Review of Love, Gilda (2018) by Devaughn B — 27 Sep 2018
Love, Gilda is a fantastic new documentary that dives into the life and mind of Gilda Radner, one of the seven original cast members of Saturday Night Live. Going into this film, I didn't know much about Gilda Radner, and only a little bit of the early SNL stuff from John Belushi, Chevy Chase, and Garrett Morris.
Using Radner's journal entries and voice recordings, we get such a deep and fascinating look at her struggles with reality and identity, acceptance and failed relationships, depression, and eating disorder.
She was such a funny woman; so much of her SNL comedy is included in this documentary and all of it lit up my auditorium! From her early life and career, up through her meeting Gene Wilder, their marriage, and ultimately her death, this is a great documentary and I highly recommend it.
