Review of Love, Gilda (2018) by Doug D — 23 Sep 2018
Great use of Gilda's own journals and tapes to tell the story of a comic genius who battled her own demons throughout her own too short life. She found her true love in Gene Wilder but was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and passed away in 1989.
Gilda was part of some the best and funniest comedy groups in the 70s - from Second City in Toronto to the National Lampoon in NewYork to being the first person hired for Saturday Night Live. Amy Poehler and Melissa McCarthy, among others, pay homage while reading from Gilda's journals to the comedienne who set a high bar for those who followed.
A must see for all who loved and miss Gilda.
