Set in the future, Looper gives us a taste of what Inception would look like if the violence became a reality. Following a long line of 'reverse-plot' films like The Matrix, The Prestige, and Inception, Looper has a lot of ground to cover if it wants to set itself apart.
And in my opinion, it did a fantastic job.
