Review of London Town (2017) by Karen B — 06 Oct 2016
London Town, a film directed by Derrick Borte, told the story of a teen-age boy who discovered the music of The Clash in London in the late 70s. The film took the audience back to 1979 to an intimate perspective of how discovering the Clash in London may have felt.
Although, Shay was a fictional character, the movie brought a true-to- life feeling to the screen. Shay's discovery of music came together with his "coming of age" which captured the hard times in a young boy's life. The music of The Clash was Shay's stepping stone through a pathway familiar to many of us as young teenagers. The film took us through Shay's journey of evolvement from a young bullied boy to a confident young man successfully taking on larger than life tasks.
The production brilliantly captured the heartfelt inspiration of Shay's experience through song and expressive portrayal of the characters from the entire cast. I highly recommend seeing London Town !
