Review of Lily and Jim (1997) by Ken S — 24 Jun 2012
"Lily and Jim" is a simple tale of a blind date that goes pretty badly. The end is rather wonderfully sad, as both seem as if they'd be willing to go on another date, but both feeling that the other would not.
It has some of Hertzfeldt's best animation, not that he has abandoned his lovely simple style, but this one just looks more refined than his previous efforts. It also has one of his best stories, and some great voice acting.
