Review of Liberal Arts (2012) by Tony M — 15 Mar 2013
Liberal Arts is a really good movie about life. In another year, this film may have been nominated for Best Movie. Josh Radnor who plays Jesse returns to his alma mater to visit a professor who is retiring.
Radnor also directed the film. Jesse falls in love with a young student named Zibbe played by Elizabeth Olsen. The film ultimately analyzes the stages & progression of life, people not wanting to retire, & the issues in re to major age gaps in relationships.
Jesse is caught between the professional world & his nostalgia for his "college days". I was impressed with this film & especially Olsen's performance as the young student who is too mature for boys her own age.
I was happy that the film did not have a cliche ending. The film has an elite cast. This is a must see especially for the 25 - 35 age group. One has to be at least 30 to truly understand this film.
