Review of Left Behind (2014) by Ion P — 28 Nov 2014
I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this movie. The "Christian Drama" movie genre is getting better. I was expecting one good professional lead actor and a lot of earnest but mostly amateurish supporting actors, but that wasn't the case. Most of the cast turned in compelling performances.
The characters were mostly well-developed, interesting, and often sympathetic (except for a few plane passengers). The sets and special effects were expansive and very well-done. But most surprising to me, considering that I thought I pretty much knew what was going to happen, was the element of suspense, which built throughout the 2nd half of the movie, right up to the climax.
The only thing I didn't really like was the encounter with the other airplane, over the Atlantic. I mean, what are the odds of that? But that's a nit, really. This movie worked.
