(1971) Lawman.
WESTERN.
Another of those serious Western movies produced and directed by Michael Winner of the Death Wish movies which the set up has some outlaws while drunk going into a shooting spree on some town and then accidently killing one of the civilians. The next scene has Burt Lancaster as Marshal Jared Maddox, the lawman coming into town with a list of the people responsible for that man's death. As things become complicated when it is soon learned that the outlaws who shot up the other town are also employees of wealthy Vincent Bronson (J Lee Bobb) business man who practically bought up the town as well. Creating a lot of friction amongst the townspeople as well as the local Sherriff Marshal Cotton Ryan Cotten played by Robert Ryan. Although I liked most of this movie, the ending is not much to be desired.
2.5 out of 4 stars.
