Review of Late Spring (2014) by Wes T — 30 Aug 2007
Beautifully understated film about an unmarried 27 year old woman still living with her father, who wants her to get married and have a life of her own so she can be truly happy, despite her wish to stay with him forever.
A deeply affecting portrait of love and sacrifice, moving on and letting go, with Ozu's serene direction packing more emotional punch than movies with twice its flash. This quietly powerful masterpiece sneaks into the heart and subtle grace and a lasting impression.
