Review of Last Life in the Universe (2003) by Mike P — 08 Jul 2007
A really awesome movie. Anyone who loves Asano Tadanobu should really go see this film. Very slow paced, yet it brings a lovely atmosphere. The music used in this film also adds a sense of lost, peacefulness to the film.
Best of all, cinematographer Christopher Doyle did an amazing job in capturing the images and the mood. The colors in this film are speechless, greenish tinted and somewhat dark. Also very good use of long shots and handheld camera.
I would say it's a perfect combo between the director and cinematographer. Of course, Wong Kar Wai and Chris is still unbeatable. hah!
