Review of Last Flag Flying (2017) by Wayne M — 28 Apr 2018
This film doesn't seem to be getting the attention it deserves with a certain cinematic universe currently stealing the limelight. Thoughtful. Humorous. Honest. Carell, Fishburne, and Cranston share the screen in Last Flag Flying to deliver a masterclass in acting.
Natural dialogue and stellar performances help to keep this seemingly slow moving film on track. Whilst the film may be a little slow for the mainstream, with a run time of over two hours, the story is sincere and small pockets of humour keep you on board.
The film doesn't pretend to be something it's not. It's a refreshing take on a road trip movie and definitely worth a watch. One of the cinema highlights for the year.
