Review of Land and Freedom (1995) by Donna D — 23 Jun 2008
I'm very interested in the Spanish Civil War, and I'd been wanting to see this film for a while now. I'm happy to say that it was worth the wait. Loach has put together a fantastic homage to those who fought for Socialism and against fascism in Spain.
This film is thoroughly moving - I really related to the character David as he became more and more drawn in to the war and more attached to his comrades. It's so sad that this war has been forgotten by many these days.
