This is a very ground-breaking love story to come from mainland China, and I respect it for that. However, comparing it objectively to other gay romance films, this one manages to have very slow pacing while still going through events too quickly for them, or the characters' feelings, to resonate like they should.

I'll bet the story it's based on is much better.
