Review of Lan Yu (2001) by Private U — 21 Mar 2008
There's too much to say about this film. It' s just VERY VERY GOOD. I wrote about this film like 4 times in my diary. haha. Stanley does capture the book very well and LIU YE just rocks the character.
His sadness within the eye is very hard to forget. Not only that I love Stanley's editing style of mixing the timeline.
Its' scene contains very little music which kinda emphasize their sound, their breathing.
The part he dies. man I cry like ... A little kid. Hu Jun ( who plays Hang Dong) cries just echos in the room. It's heart ripping.
