Review of Laid to Rest (2009) by Anthony C — 28 May 2013
Gorehounds are such an easy lot to please. We don't mind bad actors, low-budgets, half-finished scripts or that general 'straight-to-dvd' feeling. Long as there is substantial amount of carnage, all is good.
Princess wakes up in a coffin and spends the remaining of the night trying to remember who she is and, more importantly, avoiding a chrome face mask wearing, big, nasty-looking saw-like knife wielding maniac with a video camera on his shoulder.
Characters are not bad but it seems they hired the first actors who showed up. Pace is good and the special effects are really cool. There's, to my surprise, sufficient tension too. Body count is satisfactory and almost all kills are memorable. Story doesn't make much sense but perhaps, worst of all, is the killer's almost non-existant background.
Great fun, if you don't mind excessive gore.
