Review of Lady Vengeance (2005) by Paul S — 21 Mar 2012
This is a dark and poetic film that unfolds in an opera-like fashion with it's music and imagery. Lee Geum Ja spends her days in prison developing a reputation as a saint, which is all part of her master plan of revenge against the man who ruined her life.
Serving a 13 year sentence for murder, the story begins on the day of her release and flashes back to all the events that led to her arrest. With it's sporadic narration, colorful imagery, and musical style, if the French film Amelie had an evil twin then this would be it.
