Review of Ladies and Gentlemen, the Fabulous Stains (1982) by Chris W — 26 Sep 2008
An attempt to satirize punk rock and kids who follow their idol bands like sheep, The Fabulous stains mostly falls flat in this attempt, although there is some relevance to more recent bands (the legions of devout that hold Marilyn Manson's word as law or the idiotic juggalos that support Insane Clown Posse).
A young Diane Lane and Ray Winstone make for some amusement while a practically unused Laura Dern also appears. It's an alright movie, but it lacks the gut punch of something like Sid & Nancy.
Perhaps I'd have thought more of it had I seen it decades ago, but it wasn't an entirely wasted effort.
