Review of Kumaré (2012) by Christopher A — 06 Oct 2012
Vikram delves into the depths of other people's spirituality by clothing himself in the garb of a spiritual teacher and speaking about looking within. He makes the audience uncomfortable as he starts to take on a following of people who take him seriously even as he does not.
The film falls apart as he finds he can't expose the real truth about his fake identity. He leaves the set. But even the effects of a false action can be profoundly positive, as the lives of the people he's inspired blossom in positive ways.
Even the fake teacher comes out being better through the process of creating and then destroying the illusion.
