Review of Knight of Cups (2015) by Jesse K — 26 Mar 2016
Currently between a 4/5 and 4.5/5, a verdict will come in time. Okay so MALICK IS BACK! If you've seen his latest films then you pretty much know what to expect, however Knight of Cups is one of Malick's much darker outputs, becoming almost disturbing due to its imagery and depressing tone.
However, it's still a gorgeous feature that will leave you wide-eyed. I didn't feel as much of an emotional impact this time around which is why I'm slightly on the fence about it, but I still had an emotional connection.
It was a story I could definitely understand from at least one perspective. I need to let Knight of Cups rest in my mind for a while, watch it again, rinse and repeat and I'm sure I'll come to appreciate it much more.
