Review of Kingsman: The Secret Service (2015) by Michael M — 02 Sep 2015
Think Kick-Ass meets old school James Bond, it's kind of like that. It has all the creative and enjoyable cheese of the Sean Connery era Bond films but modernized and pushed to 11, and all the political incorrectness and relentless violence and action of Kick-Ass.
It is an absolute blast, and one of the most enjoyable films of the year. The story isn't anything particularly special, but it works. It's a spy film, and follows the spy film formula, but there's enough unique twists and quality characters to keep you invested through the badass action sequences.
Another aspect worth note is the cast, which includes Samuel L. Jackson, Colin Firth, and Michael Caine. Classy as actors who are clearly having fun with their roles but still give them everything they've got.
I don't know what more I can say about this movie, it's just awesome.
