Review of Kill Theory (2009) by Devon W — 06 Feb 2010
One the creepiest and visceral mind-benders I've seen in a awhile, Kill Theory brings the red paint, yes -but also fleshes out the characters and invites the viewer to identify with hope, hoplesness, starry-eyed optimism, and cold-blooded prudence.
A bunch of college friends celebrate at a lake house. Unfortunately, a VERY angry man knows them pretty well, and gives them an ultimatum. If there's only one alive at 6am, that one will be free to go. If more then one are alive, he'll kill everyone.
Some characters look out for their loved one, others look out for themselves. Others start off altruistic then realize that nobody's looking out for them. Escape plans are, of course tried, and of course fail.
Perhaps most satisfying of all, the movie actually manages to provide a somwhat satisfying motivation and identity for the Killer.
