Review of Jumanji (1995) by Carl H — 27 Jan 2012
Jumanji is one of my favourite childhood films. To do it justice, I say it is beautifully directed, well acted and has an emotionally engaging story, where unlike a lot of films out there you care about the characters and what happens to them.
The town in the film reminds me of Green Town from Ray Bradbury's classic stories. In this film kids play a magic board game that brings African animals to life and they decide to complete it, hopefully without getting in trouble or worse - killed.
Robin Williams gives one of his best performances and the stampeding animals terrifyingly realistic. Kids will love this film, so buy it for everyone.
