Review of Judge Priest (1934) by Private U — 31 May 2008
Will Rogers was the #1 box office draw at the time this film was made. John Ford directed it - his brother Francis plays a small roll. You got your pompous politician, the pompous sister-in-law, the loud mouth barber who gives a poor shave and Judge Priest - the least judgmental man of them all.
Steppin Fetchit's character isn't politically correct - but Priest is inclusive of him in post-Civil War Kentucky. We could all learn a thing or two from Judge Priest.
