Review of John Rabe (2009) by Stevenn A — 05 Dec 2010
Not all the people are tags of their cultural identity, Rabe is a man of the world, not a man of a nation. The movie is powerful and recognises the importance of remembering the awfulness of war, but also the few acts of kindness which bring us back to humanity.
Ulrich's performnce was convincing but lack a lil' something. Daniel Bröhl is, again, fantastic and I was most surprised to see Steve Buscemi in this movie. Sure, the movie doesn't touch the constant historical conflicts between China and Japan, but this is not the issue, anyway.
A must see!
