Review of Jimmy's Hall (2014) by Tim M — 05 Feb 2018
Stretched to nearly two hours, 'Jimmy's Hall' could have used some snipping and while the story is worthy, the dance scenes become redundant and the pacing shows just how thin Paul Laverty's script is.
Legendary Ken Loach directs this tale of suppression in 1930s Ireland. The acting here from the supporting is often so bad it takes you out of the movie. Barry Ward (Jimmy) is a joy to watch. He's a bright spot in what could have been a short film.
Final Score: 5.9/10.
