Review of Jane Eyre (1997) by Mloy X — 06 Nov 2011
In a word, DISAPPONTING. The story is beloved and Bronte's word were like poetry and I understand that every adaptation tries to relate the tale to modern audiences but to deviate so much from the writing was completely heartbreaking.
To change the dialogue the to the point where a peson like myself who has read the book was lost in more than one instance and was left wondering what the heck was going on? I like Ciaran Hinds but didn't agree with his portrayal of Mr.
Rochester because from the book Mr. Rochester was more brooding and aloof with a hint of mischievousness than boorish and boisterous. Also, Rochester was a little cold towads Adele contrary to being openly affectionate as portrayed in this film.
