Review of It Happened Here (1966) by Rob L — 18 Oct 2010
Interesting, if slow, alternate-history of London in WWII. Its narrative strength seems to lie in its choice of main character, an English nurse whose politics are shallow but typically human. We don't see the Nazis through the lens of persecuted Jews or resistance fighters, but instead through the eyes of someone who is nominally apathetic.
We're not used to hearing the voice of colluding Brits espousing Nazi ideals, and its insidious drone in daily minutia is chilling.
