Review of Isolation (2005) by Peter D — 18 Jan 2012
An Irish horror film that I wasn't expecting much from ("killer cows") but the way it was handled made me really enjoy it. The opening credits and wailing strings harked back to Hammer and had me hooked.
The way the story develops is kinda predictable but gets really enjoyable towards the end once the horrible crab/worm/parasite thing has grown bigger and is running wild. My criticism of it would be the lengthly, stomach churning scenes of cow's giving birth and close-ups of their insides being dissected for examination.
I like gore but only if it's comedic or gruesome. These 'wet and sloppy' scenes in Isolation simply weren't scary or funny for me and had me vomiting on the floor...which was promptly dealt with by my dog's hungry appetite (kidding ;o) .
..or AM I?!!).
