Review of Is That a Gun in Your Pocket? (2016) by Suzy T — 22 Sep 2016
Saw this recently at a local film festival and thought it was a hilarious. Cloris Leachman plays a dirty old lady and she had me laughing out loud. In fact, pretty much everyone was laughing pretty hard at her and a lot of the other actors who were excellent.
As far as the story, it's set in Texas and is about a housewife fighting with her husband to take a stand against gun violence and gun ownership. Their "family feud" spill over to their friends and then the whole town gets involved and it becomes a men vs women feud over guns in the town, which is kind of a big debate in the country right now so it seems pretty topical as far as a story.
But it doesn't get too serious since it's a comedy, but it makes good points about gun control, and makes you think while you laugh. Overall, I give it an A-. It was fun and cute, and since I'm originally from Arkansas, I could really relate to the small hometown setting in the movie.
