Review of Infernal Affairs II (2003) by Lotti K — 12 Sep 2008
Yeah, I went in a HK frenzy the last couple of days but I wanted to finish this trilogy that I had already started. As most of you know Infernal Affairs is the movie that was remade by Martin Scorcese as The Departed. It stars two of the hottest HK actors in Andy Lau (House of Flying Daggers) and Tony Leung (Here) as two moles, one in the police force and one in the Triads.
The second part though is a prequel that shows how they got there and the stars of this one are Anthony Wong (who plays the one in charge in the first one) and the fantastic Eric Tsang as one of the soldiers who eventually becomes the boss. This one is definitely more epic than the first one. The scope of the story it tells is just awesome. The script (if what I read in the subtitles is right) is fantastic and while the action may not be much, this is not a movie about action but the characters who eventually go into the first part.
