Review of In the Company of Men (1997) by Megan O — 04 Jul 2005
Director: Neil LaBute.
Starring: Aaron Eckart, Matt Malloy, Stacy Edwards.
4 stars out of 4.
This is a wonderful film about misogyny and the pressures of "masculinity". These pressures are nicely illustrated through subtle comparisons with the "corporate ladder". To say much more would be pointless, as it is all pretty evident with a single viewing. Great film. Extremely disturbing - but you know, in that good kind of way. But I wouldn't expect anything less from LaBute (**cough** I'm pretending I haven't seen Nurse Betty or Possession **cough**).
