Review of I Saw the Devil (2010) by Jeff W — 17 Jul 2011
Easily one of the best films I have seen in a long time! Kim Jee-woon has only made a small handful of films, but everyone has been a masterpiece! Like "The Good, The Bad, The Weird" This strays away from his "artsy" style, but in this case is replaced by dark gritty violence.
yes, its violent! very very violent, but its far far from the "gore porn" that is pumped out from Hollywood. Its there to complement a fantastic and tragic story, and wondeeful characters. Choi Min Sik is disturbingly good as the down right revolting psychopathic antagonist, and Lee Byung Hun shines as the anti-hero who slowly fades into darkness! Amazing!
