Review of I Married a Monster from Outer Space (1958) by Richard L — 22 Mar 2010
This movie is another science-fiction classic coming right from the 50's, complete with the usual self-explanatory title (yes, it is about a now femaleless, fish people-looking, invading alien race trying to adapt to the nuclear family lifestyle while intending to use women as breeding vessels), a rather simple storyline, the typical hijackings of human bodies, and minimal yet efficient special effects.
Conservative values and sexism are present through the movie, e. g. the good women get married (quote : "Well, I had just about given up hope. I was reading books about Florence Nightingale, Joan of Ark, Madame du Baril.
.. you know, career women. But now, I've been saved [because Sam proposed to me]."), the bad women don't (and die). Also, and just for the record, Gloria Talbott is a pretty good lead, and really classy if I might add.
