Review of I Married a Monster from Outer Space (1958) by Evie H — 07 Jul 2013
Fantastic movie, better now than when it was made: It's the mother ship of every sci-fi staple plot device, and also a veritable time machine of every movie plot device that's now obsolete because of advances in tech.
The special effects are not computer-generated, but that adds to their charm, and they're pretty nifty, given those limits. Ever get serious with someone, and he suddenly seems to 'turn into someone else'? 'Monster' is also a great glimpse of the way courtship and marriage were viewed in the 50s.
And just plain good fun.
