Review of I Don't Want to Sleep Alone (2006) by Eli F — 30 Nov 2007
The last shot was virtually spoiled for me - so it lost much of its resonance. However, that resonance came for me after rewatching many of the scenes and thinking over it a bit. The characters are so completely alienated almost until they don't even exist.
In a way it's bleak and unrelent, and extremely idealistic. A contradictory work of art, and that being contradictory is no detriment in this case. As Tsai said, in his other films he pondered the meaning of existence, but here he answers it in filmic form.
