Review of House of Fury (2005) by Chris S — 21 May 2008
Okay, the only reason I wanted to see this was becuase Anthony Wong is a badass of Clint Eastwood proportions. But even he couldn't save this dull and derivative movie. The fighting was so unrealistic and stylized that you just had to say, "Okay, don't use slo-mo if I can see your mistakes and see how fake the movie is.
" The story could've been played a whole lot better but instead it's wasted on small silly romances, bad slapstick humor, and dumb villains. How can you be scared of a villain who's paralyzed?!!! I don't know! On the DVD box, he's standing up holding Wolverine blades but here he is in a wheelchair! WTF! The direction was also very out-there, showing glimmers of hope one second while completely ruining the mood and tone the other.
On the plus side, the main girl was really cute-looking and not a bad actress. But she and Anthony still can't make up for this crap.
