Review of Hollywood Ending (2002) by Nathan N — 30 Aug 2008
Woody becomes Woodier as he ages - the characters that he plays, though about the same in every movie, don't ease into the Woody persona as smoothly in these later films. He jumps right into whiny stuttering, which is rather off-putting for the first ten or so minutes of the film, until it is gotten used to.
The premise is cute for Allen, and the execution is OK. A great deal of the humor is the sort of "I smiled a little on the inside" kind of jokes, but there are a few good laughs to be had. The movie is good, but not one of Allen's best.
