Review of Hercules and the Captive Women (1961) by Tim S — 20 Mar 2014
Hercules and the Captive Women isn't one of the top tier Hercules movies and/or media out there, I'm sure (I haven't seen a whole lot of it, so I'm going on instinct alone). The one is pretty awful.
I'm sure at one time the movie was great for little kids when it was released, especially on TV, but it doesn't hold up at all and there are lots of elements that make it bad. It's also unintentionally funny at times, which made it a prime candidate for Mystery Science Theater 3000.
The story itself is pretty boring for the most part. So boring that I can barely remember it, which is a way that I gauge how good or bad something is. The MST3K version is really the only version of this movie worth watching if you just have to watch it.
At least you'll get some laughs out of it.
