This is my favourite film of all time, I love the look of it, the various characters subjective interpretation of hell, the awe-inspiring soundtrack and surreal landscapes (by way of escher). Dr Channard is the most amazing villian in cinema; archetypal and expressionist in his painful gnosis. "...and to think I hesitated".
A poetic an menacing horror masterpiece.
