Review of Hell Fest (2018) by Joe R — 26 Sep 2018
Hell Fest has come out at the perfect time of year and is a great film to kick off the Halloween season. At times the film is very pedestrian, pulling out some of the oldest tricks from the horror/slasher genre.
While it doesn't come with as much of a nod and a wink as genre classics like Scream does when doing so, the film is completely aware of exactly what it is doing. The thrill is not necessarily in the kill in this film, but rather, ends up being in the completely fleshed out killer, who I would argue is the star in this story.
If you have been itching for a slasher flick and are looking to kick off your Halloween season a little earlier, this is a film for you. Grab your pumpkin spice latte, don your flannel, and enjoy this early trick r treat of a film.
