Review of Heaven's Gate (1980) by Benjamin J — 02 Jun 2007
A rather dry film. Written and Directed by Michael Cimino (who two years before this disaster won an Oscar for Best Director for The Deer Hunter), this western-epic truly is a director's film. However, it is scathly bashed.
I think it is not that great of a film, but it is not a horrible film. It has some of the most beautiful art direction and cinematography I have ever seen in a film. But the acting, character development, and script really caused this film's downfall.
