Review of Hearts and Minds (1974) by Brian B — 24 Apr 2018
I thought this was a decent film. It was effective as an articulation of American attitudes towards the war. In addition to that, I especially liked the interviews with the Vietnamese. It talks to civilians who are often not heard from.
These were all effective moments. However, by basing most of its attention on racism, I think it gives a misleading depiction of American soldiers as there were likely many more of them who had different viewpoints on the war which weren't explored in this film.
