Review of Half Moon Street (1986) by Jeff B — 15 Jan 2011
A dirty old hooker falls in love with a dirty old Lord but Pretty Woman its certainly is not! A political thriller mixed with Sigourney Weavers nipples.
Although the story drags its way through the narrative with no real conviction it does seem to wake up towards the end and makes you feel that there is actually a point and makes you question wither or not you enjoyed the film. I'm still unsure if its a good film but its certainly more entertaining and interesting than the mainstream drivel nowadays that easily costs 500-600 times more to make.
Caine is, as always, sturdy as a rock and Sigourney pulls off the paradox off a high class educated intellectual and high class whore seamlessly. However it does all seem to be far too natural and casual a situation for the players and without any real scandal, shame or shock being expressed by anyone, therefore a little less believable.
Nadim Sawalha is one to watch in this exotic, escort escapade.
